About ChordRush

ChordRush is a free piano chord trainer for MIDI keyboards — a chord name appears and you play it against the clock, drilling triads, 7ths, and inversions until they're automatic.

What you need to play

  • A MIDI keyboard connected to your computer (USB or Bluetooth).
  • Chrome or Edge on desktop — ChordRush reads your playing through the Web MIDI API, which Safari, Firefox, and phones don't support yet.

Why it exists

I'm teaching myself piano and kept running into the same thing: I knew my chords fine, I just couldn't play them fast. I'd see a chord name and sit there finding it one note at a time. More theory wasn't going to fix that. I just needed to do it over and over until my hands stopped thinking about it.

I went looking for something that would just drill that on a real keyboard and didn't really find one, so I made this. A chord shows up, you play it, you get the next one. It's a side project and it's rough in spots, but it's genuinely made me faster, which is about the only reason I keep working on it.

It's just me building this. If something's broken, or you want a chord type or mode added, the Discord and GitHub links below are the fastest way to reach me — feedback genuinely shapes what gets built next.
